The church of Steinhof designed by the famous architect Otto Wagner at the midst of a pavilion hospital was erected in the year 1905-1907.
Almost 100 years after its completion, the church had to undergo a major restoration under the surveillance of the Austrian Federal Monuments Office.
The most significant areas of work were: The renewal of the Carrara marble cladded façade, the copper sheet metal work at the tambour of the cupola, the isolation of all flat roofs, the restoration of the decorative ornamentations and of the exterior sculptures, the restoration of the glass windows by Koloman Moser as well as the renovation of the interior space.
